The Door County Administrative Committee Tuesday established the pay grade for the position of Human Services Director.
The County Board earlier this year approved merging the Social Services and Community Programs departments into a single Human Services Department.
Joe Krebsbach, the Director of Community Programs, has been serving as the de facto interim Human Services director. If he's confirmed as the new department's permanent director, his annual salary would increase from $93,309 to $97,656.
County Administrator Maureen Murphy says as head of the Community Programs Department, Krebsbach has been responsible for a budget of $8.9 million, whereas the director of Human Services will oversee a budget of $15.1 million. In addition, Murphy says Krebsbach would go from a staff of 27 to a staff of 62 and his number of contractual relationships would increase from 72 to 132.
The County Board is expected to vote on Krebsbach's appointment December 11.
Murphy says at that time supervisors will also vote on the creation of the Human Services Board. She says the two parent committees for the Department of Social Services and the Department of Community Programs have been disbanded and they'll re-form as the Door County Human Services Board.
