No, your eyes weren't deceiving you. That WAS Santa Claus arriving by boat at the Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay Saturday morning. The U.S. Coast Guard made the special Santa delivery with its new 45-foot response boat. The big guy then met with area children and took their Christmas wishes aboard the tug John Purves, the Museum's 93-year-old in-water exhibit.
"The Coast Guard and Santa have a special relationship during the holidays," says Bob Desh, the Museum's executive director. "We feel fortunate to be able to share in that tradition."
The event was held in conjunction with the museum's Merry-Time Festival of Trees, which runs through December 11.
