Sturgeon Bay Utilities is letting the public know that they're resuming tree trimming activities in the Township of Nasewaupee.
The remaining areas to be trimmed this winter include Roalkvam Road, Park Drive and County Highway M along with all connecting roads north of Hainseville Road.
Along with the normal trimming, the focus is on removal of overhanging limbs and dying or leaning trees that could cause extended power outages during a wind or ice event. Some evergreen trees that are located under overhead utility lines will be topped an average of 2 to 3 feet below the lowest communication cable or removed depending on the location. All other species will be targeted for removal reducing the need for future trimming and right-of-way clearing.
Trees and branches that are located within utility easement areas will be trimmed back a minimum of 8 to 10 feet from any high voltage conductor in accordance with trimming requirements. The trimming requirements are to ensure public and employee safety along with assisting in outage prevention.
