The opening of the latest exhibit at the Miller Art Museum in Sturgeon Bay was celebrated Saturday afternoon.
The show is "Paintings from Door County Land Trust Nature Preserves." Museum Director Bonnie Hartmann told the crowded room the blending of art and the beauty of the Land Trust's preserves is a perfect fit.
The exhibit features 52 artists; about two thirds call Door County home and the other third are frequent visitors.
Artists, such as Fish Creek's Liz Maltman were invited to participate in the show. Maltman often visits the land trust properties for inspiration of her landscape pieces. She paints in pastels and describes her work as contemporary "Magical Realism," but says it is interesting to see all of the artist's interpretations of something so treasured in the area.
Maltman's colorful landscape interpretation and the rest of the works at "Paintings from Door County Land Trust Nature Preserves" are on display through December 22nd.
