Arctic Studies Expert and retired Coast Guard officer Dr. Lawson W. Brigham will speak about the issues of globalization, climate change, and geopolitics at the Top of the World tonight in Sturgeon Bay.
Brigham says with the effects of climate change, come new prospects in the Arctic.
The big and most talked about opportunity in the Arctic is off shore drilling for oil and gas. Brigham will discuss the issue tonight in his presentation, "The New Maritime Arctic: Challenges and Opportunities."
Brigham will have a sort of homecoming in Sturgeon Bay – he was the first commanding officer of the Coast Guard Cutter Mobile Bay. He says he is looking forward to the visit…
Dr. Brigham is currently a Professor of Geography & Arctic Policy at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. "The New Maritime Arctic: Challenges and Opportunities" is tonight at 7:00 PM at the Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay. The event is free to the public.
