Volunteer Center Connection – October 20, 2012

On October 27th, we’ll celebrate “Make A Difference Day” a day in which we come together for one day to accomplish great things.  Why not “Make A Difference” by helping out at one of these events in our community?

It’s time for the annual “Boo Bash” at the Sturgeon Bay YMCA and they’re looking for volunteers! Join them for the Halloween Party on Friday, October 26th from 6:00-8:00 PM and help them greet "trick or treaters," run carnival games, do face-painting, crafting with kids, or help out with concessions.  Contact Dori or Madelyn at 743-4949 or

PATH has a great opportunity to raise funds for our programming through working a portable stand for concessions at Lambeau Field this season. What a great way to hear the game (up close!), be in on the excitement and not have to pay a big ticket price! 2-3 volunteers will be needed to work each home game. Training session is required of all volunteers but numerous dates and times are available. Training is about 4 hours. The next game to volunteer at will be November 4th versus the Arizona Cardinals. Contact Deb Doyle at PATH at 920.559.6217 for more information.

Neighbor-to-Neighbor Volunteer Caregivers is hosting “Rib Fest” on Saturday, November 17th at the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club.  Volunteers are needed that day to help set up, serve and clean up.  The bonus is you’ll even get to sample some of the finger licking, award winning ribs while you’re helping a great organization.  Contact Ann at 743-7800 or

“Make a Difference Day” is celebrated in Door County by collecting personal care items such as paper products, soap and deodorant which is then distributed to those in need.  So when you’re out shopping, why not pick up a few extra items.  Drop off locations are:
