The Door County Volunteer Guardianship Program is looking to recruit and train volunteer guardians. A volunteer guardian is responsible for making health, employment, housing, social, recreational and financial decisions on behalf of the ward. They are also responsible for acting as the ward’s advocate to ensure that his/her legal rights, independence and dignity are protected. Serving as a volunteer guardian is a challenging experience but also highly rewarding. Contact Erin at (920) 746-2300 or eszakala@co.door.wi.us.
It’s time for the annual “Boo Bash” at the Sturgeon Bay YMCA and they’re looking for volunteers! Join them for the Halloween Party on Friday, October 26th from 6:00-8:00 PM and help them greet "trick or treaters," run carnival games, do face-painting, crafting with kids, or help out with concessions. Contact Dori or Madelyn at 743-4949 or mdeprey@doorcountyymca.org.
PFLAG is looking for board members and newsletter assistants to help them provide support, education, and advocacy to our community. So if you’re a budding journalist or someone who would love to lend your leadership skills, why not consider helping out. Contact Richard or Sandy at (920) 421-8815 or pflag@doorcounty.com.
If you’ve ever said “I want to make a difference” take the opportunity to do just that on Saturday, October 27th. “Make a Difference Day” is celebrated in Door County by collecting personal care items such as shampoo, toothpaste and laundry detergent which is then distributed to those in need. So when you’re out shopping, why not pick up a few extra items and drop them off at Bay View Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay. Contact Paula Reichel at (920) 746-7659.
