Authorities in Sturgeon Bay are asking for the public's help in tracking down a dog they say attacked a boy on the city's east side this past weekend.
According to the report from the Sturgeon Bay Police Department, the 13-year-old boy and a friend were walking behind Pizza Hut and the Draft Haus Saturday when a medium-sized black dog with white on its paws got between the two and bit the boy multiple times. The dog didn't have a collar and the boy didn't know what kind of dog it was.
The boy was treated for his injuries at Door County Medical Center and released.
Officers are asking anyone who's seen a similar dog in the area or knows who owns the dog to contact the Sturgeon Bay Police Department at 920-746-2450. Those who'd like to remain anonymous can use the Confidential Web Tip Form on the department's website, http://www.sturgeonbaypolice.com/webtip.html or click 'Give a Tip' on the department's Facebook page.
Authorities say if the dog can't be tracked down the boy will have to begin receiving a series of rabies vaccinations.
