The Kewaunee PR Committee, along with Cyber Green, will be sponsoring a Kewaunee County Electronics Recycling Day Saturday, October 6 from 8 am to 12 pm at the Kewaunee High School parking lot, located at the corner of Center Street and Third Street in Kewaunee. The event will take place rain or shine.
The purpose of the event is to provide the community with the opportunity to properly dispose of unwanted electronics and appliances, therefore keeping these items out of the landfill. Cyber Green will recycle the majority of the equipment and will properly dispose of the rest. All hard drives will be shredded. This event is free of charge and open to the public, inside and outside of Kewaunee County. The only charges will be for television and computer monitors as these items contain phosphates and lead. Cyber Green will charge $10 if the screens are under 30 inches and $20 if the screens are over 30 inches, which is their cost of disposal. Curbside service will be offered, with volunteers available to unload your vehicle for you.
Examples of items accepted at this event include all computer equipment, televisions, video equipment, cell phones, wiring and cabling, telephone systems, microwaves, and -- just for this event -- dehumidifiers and household appliances. For a full list of acceptable and non-acceptable items go to kewauneeprcommittee.com. If you have a large quantity of items, arrangements can be made by contacting Aaron Chevalier at 920-246-7143. Any questions regarding this event can be directed to Lisa Schmidt at 920-255-3492.
