Ric Furrer has been blacksmithing for twenty three years; creating architectural works like gates and railings, but also swords and knives. That sword creation - specifically in historical weaponry - is what lead to contact and inclusion in a nationally airing episode of the television program "NOVA" entitled "Secrets of the Viking Blade."
The program talks about a very specific group of Viking Swords forged with more strength than typical swords of the era. In the episode, Furrer creates a replica of a blade he describes as the most difficult thing made in the time period.
Furrer says filming with a national crew was a very new and different experience.
