Names Released in Fatal Door County Motorcycle Accident

Police have released the "who" involved in Sunday afternoon's fatal motorcycle/car crash which happened in the town of Liberty Grove.

According to an accident report released by the Door County Sheriff Department on Monday, the motorcycle passenger 52-year-old Charlotte F. Grider of Plymouth was pronounced dead at the scene after being thrown from the vehicle. The driver, 51-year-old Kevin D. Grider, was also thrown from the bike and was airlifted by helicopter to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay for treatment of "very-severe" injuries

Anthony L. Charlier, 25, Appleton was the driver of the car involved in the accident; a blue 1988 Chevy Corsica. The report says Charlier made a left turn into the incoming motorcycle. He says he was distracted by smoke and fire that started coming from his steering column and turned off the road without seeing the oncoming motorcycle.

Charlier and his passenger David J. McKinley, 25, DePere, were treated on the scene for minor injuries.

Neither motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have played a part in the crash.
