The Door County Sheriff's Department has released the names of the victim and the suspect in Sunday's homicide at a Door County resort.
Killed was 21-year-old Alisha N. Bromfield of Plainfield, Illinois. The suspect is 35-year-old Brian M. Cooper, also of Plainfield.
Door County Sheriff Terry Vogel says Cooper and Bromfield were in Door County together to attend a wedding at the Log Den in Egg Harbor.
Vogel says his department received a phone call from Cooper shortly after noon Sunday from a business in Sister Bay to report that he had killed his girlfriend.
Vogel says officers took Cooper into custody in Sister Bay and around the same time authorities found the body of Bromfield inside a motel room at the resort south of Sturgeon Bay. The resort is believed to be Sand Bay Beach Resort, although that was not confirmed by Vogel.
The Sheriff's Office has not released information about how Bromfield was killed.
Cooper is being held in the Door County Jail pending formal charges from the District Attorney's office.
He's scheduled to appear in Door County Court before Judge Todd Ehlers Tuesday at 1 p.m.
