When the Ridges Sanctuary formed in 1937, it was just 40 acres. 75 years later, the sanctuary has swelled to 1600.
Ridges Executive Director Steve Leonard will share history, images, stories, and vision of the iconic nature center in a program Tuesday August 21st at the Bailey's Harbor Town Hall.
Leonard says he will cover everything in the sanctuary's storied history from the 1935 planning for the Ridges by botanist Albert Fuller to present day.
Leonard says he will also talk about plans for the Ridges' future, what makes the Sanctuary so unique, and the culture that comes with people who use and love the land.
"The History of the Ridges Sanctuary" will be at 7:00 pm. The Program is sponsored by the Baily's Harbor Historical Society. Refreshments will be served.
