The Door County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate an incident in which a low-flying plane sheared off a telephone line on the Cana Island causeway.
Sheriff Terry Vogel says the investigation includes reviewing several photos of low-flying planes taken on the peninsula that day.

Witnesses say two low-flying planes approached the island from the southwest last Thursday shortly before noon. One of the planes flew underneath the power lines that span the causeway between the end of East Cana Island Road and Cana Island but hit the telephone line, taking it down. The report from the Sheriff's Department says the distance between the poles is about 425 feet. The telephone line was attached to one pole at a height of about 21 feet and the other pole at a height of around 28 feet.
"There's a possibility it may tie into the EAA event in Oshkosh," says Vogel. "It's unusual -- and really unusual for them to be flying that low, doing some stunts like that."
Vogel says his department is working with the Federal Aviation Administration on the investigation.
