A 28-year-old Sturgeon Bay woman has been placed on probation for 10 years and given a stayed prison sentence in the drug-related death of a Sturgeon Bay man.
Andrea Esther was sentenced during a plea/sentencing hearing Monday afternoon in Door County Court. She was placed on probation for 10 years by Judge Peter Diltz, who also imposed and stayed a prison sentence of 13 years, consisting of 3 years initial confinement and 10 years extended supervision.
Esther was charged with first degree reckless homicide for allegedly giving the painkiller oxymorphone to 49-year-old Demetrias "Demo" Moya last October 14. Moya's body was found by police the following day after he failed to show up for work.
As part of her agreement with prosecutors Esther pleaded no contest to the reckless homicide charge and a count of possession of THC-2nd offense.
