Fire crews from four departments were able to get a fast-moving grass fire under control Monday afternoon in the Town of Clay Banks.
It started in a wheat field on the Andrew and Rose Jandrin farm.
Rose says her husband was coming out of the field on the east side of County Hwy U in a grain truck loaded with wheat when he noticed the engine was smoking...

Southern Door Fire Chief Chuck Cihlar says a strong south wind caused the fire to spread through the wheat field to the next field to the north but firefighters were able to stop it there.
"It's a good thing we had the rain last week to green things up a bit," says Cihlar. "It was still spreading and burning at a good rate."
Crews from Sturgeon Bay, Brussels-Union-Gardner and Algoma also responded. Cihlar says a total of about 60 firefighters helped bring the blaze under control.
"Nobody got hurt and everybody's safe," says Jandrin. "That's the most important thing."
