The Rowing Regatta could not have had more perfect weather yesterday to hold the first Sprint Race Regatta in the Sturgeon Bay boat channel.
The Regatta had more than 155 boats registered to race the Olympic style 1,000 meter sprint course and Door County Daily News.com Sports Director Nick Freimuth was on hand to call the races.
The Regatta was sanctioned by the U.S. Rowing association and had 13 teams competing in events throughout the day.
The Sturgeon Bay boat channel was open to traffic and a few lucky boaters even got to watch the races from their boats out on the water.
Dr. Bruce Tully, founder of the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club and organizer of the Maritime Regatta said that the Race Regatta brought 1,000 participants to Sturgeon Bay.
The radio stations of Door County Daily News.com were proud to be a major sponsor of this event.
