Door County's unemployment rate is a full percentage point lower than it was at this time a year ago.
According to figures released this week by the Department of Workforce Development, Door County's unemployment rate for June 2012 was 8.1 percent. That compares to a 9.1 percent rate in June 2011.
Kewaunee County also registered a drop, going from 7.2 percent in June 2011 to 6.5 percent in June 2012.
The decreases were consistent with a statewide trend, with 65 of Wisconsin's 72 counties either declining or staying the same from June 2011 to June 2012.
In terms of rankings, Kewaunee County continues to rate among the best counties in terms of low unemployment, ranking 61st (where 72 is the best and 1 is the worst). Door County ranks 26th.
In May, Door County's rate was 8.8 percent. Kewaunee's was 5.8 percent.
