The Egg Harbor Fire Department opened the truck bay doors of Fire Station 1 to visitors this morning. The open house showcased the end result of the long overdue $300,000 upgrade to the fire department's facilities.
Egg Harbor Fire Chief Steve Schopf says the biggest improvement to the facility is a newly created training classroom.
Schopf says the classroom is nice because they can configure the space however they need to for different types of training. The room has also held a couple of NWTC classes and local assemblies when other meeting spaces are full.
Other Improvements include an office and work area, improved restrooms and kitchen facilities, and the building's facelift.

The Egg Harbor Fire Department has handled about 60 Egg Harbor first responder calls, about 20 Carlsville first responder calls, and around 45 fire and rescues so far this year.
