Pro football players will be trading in helmet and pads for rod and reel next week as Sturgeon Bay plays host to a fishing event featuring Green Bay Packers players and coaches.
Local fishing guide Gary Nault says the outing put on by the NFL Alumni Association-Green Bay Chapter will not only give anglers a chance to fish with a former Packer in prime Door County waters but also furnish a front-row seat to plenty of first-rate stories.
Nault says things will start with an evening banquet Wednesday, July 18 at The Lodge at Leathem Smith, with the fishing outing on Thursday the 19th.
Nault says spots are still available for both the banquet and the fishing portion of the event. He says some special deals are now being offered for those who sign up to fish.
Some of the ex-Packers who'll be coming include Jerry Kramer, Doug Hart, Lynn Dickey, Chris Jacke, Bryce Paup and Paul Coffman.
