State Representative Garey Bies (R-Sister Bay) is being recognized by the Wisconsin Academy of Family Physicians (WAFP) as a "Friend of Family Medicine" for his efforts to improve the quality of health care in Wisconsin.
Among the issues the WAFP supported last session was a bill authored by Bies to close a loophole in Wisconsin law as it pertains to providing tobacco products to minors. Bies also voted for a number of WAFP-supported bills, including a tax-incentive for employers to provide a workplace wellness program; and a bill to streamline the electronic prescription process to increase patient safety and deter people from fraudulently filling prescriptions.
“It is an honor to receive this recognition from the WAFP,” says Bies. “Providers play a critical role in identifying how we can improve the quality and delivery of healthcare in Wisconsin."
The WAFP is the largest physician specialty professional group in Wisconsin, serving more than 2,600 members statewide.
