The 5K Hairpin Run in Fish Creek got off to a hot and sticky start at 8:30 Wednesday morning when close to 1300 participants started their run/walk.
Race organizers were a little concerned about the heat playing a factor in the race but event officials provided water around the 2-mile mark to help keep runners and walkers alike hydrated.
The race was a good mix of competitive runners and families who were just out to walk and enjoy the beautiful weather.
The first runner crossed the finish line in 17:43 and other competitors started to trickle across slowly afterwards.
The 5k Hairpin Run takes place every year on the 4th of July.
