The American Red Cross says the blood supply has reached emergency levels because of 50,000 fewer donations than expected in June.
Those who want to help the cause may consider donating blood at the Southern Door High School Community Summer Blood Drive at the Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church, 323 S. 5th Avenue on Thursday, July 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
To make an appointment call 1-800-RED CROSS or visit redcrossblood.org. The blood that is collected will help raise money towards a scholarship that is awarded every year to a student council member. This year, the Red Cross awarded two scholarships because of the community summer blood drive.
