Now that the new Walmart is open, Sturgeon Bay officials are turning their attention toward making pedestrian improvements along Egg Harbor Road.
The Common Council Tuesday will take up a Finance Committee recommendation to award a contract to Baudhuin Inc. to develop preliminary plans for pedestrian improvements and storm water management along the Egg Harbor Road corridor from 8th Avenue to Alabama Street, including sidewalks, curb & gutter, storm water sewers and detention ponds.
Baudhuin, which would team with Donohue Associates on the project, has worked on several previous projects in Sturgeon Bay, including the Jefferson Street Streetscape, WireTech Redevelopment and Sturgeon Bay Industrial Park.
Sturgeon Bay's 2012 capital budget includes $65,000 for Egg Harbor Road improvements/design. In addition, the developer agreement with Walmart requires Walmart fund $96,000 for the "expansion of the sidewalk system on Egg Harbor Road."
Tuesday's meeting begins at 8 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
