Aside from the parades and fireworks displays, one of Door County's annual 4th of July traditions is the recitation of the Gettysburg Address at Peninsula State Park.
This year's recitation is set for Tuesday, July 3 at 10 a.m. Charles Dickson will be presenting the famous three-minute speech, delivered by President Abraham Lincoln after the Battle of Gettysburg during the Civil War.
The program is free and open to the public, but a state park vehicle sticker is required. Patriotic art projects for children will follow. For more information contact the Peninsula Nature Center at 920-854-5976.
