Did you know that this is the first time in modern history that FOUR generations are actually in the work place and volunteering at the same time? So if you are a baby boomer or a millennial, here are this week’s Volunteer Center Connection opportunities:
Participants in the Nor Door Adult Day Services program typically have some kind of disability, most likely some kind of dementia usually in the mid to later stages. Volunteers are needed to assist with another person's physical needs such as walking, transferring, and eating. Patience and respect for others without regard for their circumstance is key. Volunteers are trained through direct participation in daily activities. Contact Carl Shakal at (920) 495-2016 or cshakal@newcurative.org.
Consider this your official invitation to join the team of Ushers and Parking Attendants for the 2012Peninsula Music Festival. Beginning August 7th, a season of amazing concerts by a professional symphony orchestra is held at the Door Community Auditorium. Ushers and Parking Attendants get to enjoy a great concert once their work is done. Please consider this enjoyable volunteer opportunity! Contact Jill Quigley at (920) 360-5772 or quigx2@aol.com.
Meet some very nice people in the county as you distribute brochures and flyers to various businesses for the Ridges Sanctuary. Drive and drop off promotional materials in your home area, one side of the Door or the entire county—you get to pick! Contact Carol at (920) 839-2802 or carol@RidgesSanctuary.org.
And don’t forget, Door County is hosting both the Door County Triathlon and the Lakeshore 150 Bike Tour July 20th through the 22nd. Between those two events, we’ll need lots of volunteers to keep things running smoothly. Monitor intersections, serve food, hand out medals…the possibilities are endless! Contact Madelyn at the YMCA for the Triathlon at 743-4949 or Katlin at (262)785-4272 for the Lakeshore 150.
