Door County supervisors Tuesday will get an update on the effort to find a new county administrator.
Corporation Counsel Grant Thomas, the acting county administrator, says the position was recently advertised and applications will be accepted until July 27.
The county is looking for a replacement for Michael Serpe.
Serpe's dismissal and whether he may file a claim against the county is related to another item the board will discuss in closed session.
The agenda lists the closed session item as "conferring with legal counsel who is rendering oral or written advice concerning strategy to be adopted with respect to the Notice of Circumstances Giving Rise to Claim and Claim Pursuant to Wis. Statute 893.80 by Attorney Frederick L. Zievers for Michael J. Serpe."
Thomas says anyone who wants to file any sort of a claim against a county has to comply with Wisconsin Statute 893.80, commonly referred to as a notice of injury and claim statute.
Thomas says no such lawsuit has been filed against the county.
"This is just a way of preserving Mr. Serpe's right to do so if he chooses (to) at some point in the future," says Thomas.
Serpe was dismissed March 30 for unsatisfactory behavior.
Tuesday's meeting is at 9 a.m. in Room C101 of the Door County Government Center.
