Barn Fire In Southern Door

A barn in Forestville was a total loss after it erupted in flames early Saturday morning. The fire happened off of Carnot Road just west of County Road S.

The Southern Door Fire Department says no people or animals were injured in the blaze, but a tractor and a few other items were destroyed with the approximately 4000 square foot barn.

The fire started shortly afer 3:00 AM. The Brussels-Union-Gardner, Algoma, and Sturegon Bay Fire Departments provided mutual aid and had the fire under control by about 4:00 AM. The scene was clear shortly after 7:00 AM.

A cause for the fire has not yet been determined, but an electrical problem is the suspected culprit.
