A new slate of Door County Tourism Zone Commission officers was elected at the group’s annual meeting held June 21 in Sturgeon Bay. All officers serve one-year terms:
• Josh Van Lieshout (Village Administrator/Egg Harbor), elected as Commission Chair, representing the Village of Egg Harbor.
• Richard Skare (owner/The Cookery Suites & Cottages), elected to serve as Vice-Chair, representing the Town of Gibraltar.
• Little Bit LeClair (owner/Square Rigger Lodge & Galley), re-elected to a fifth term as Secretary, representing the Town of Jacksonport.
• Bryan Nelson (co-owner/Blacksmith Inn on the Shore) was re-elected to a fifth term as Treasurer, representing the Town of Baileys Harbor.
The Commission thanked Robert Kufrin (Village of Sister Bay) for his service as Chair since April 2007.
The Tourism Zone Commission collects the room tax from lodgings in all 19 Door County municipalities, reporting tax income of $3.2 million in 2011. Room tax collections in 2011 were up .5% over 2010 collections.
The Commission as a whole meets in even-numbered months, and the Executive Committee meets in odd-numbered months. All meetings are open to the public.
