As school finished out its last few days, most students were excited to start their summer vacation by sleeping in and spending their time at the local beaches. For the 24 students who went on the New York City choir trip, that couldn’t be any more different.
The students and choir director Dave Robertson got back from the Big Apple on Thursday.
They had a packed itinerary including performing at Our Lady of Pompeii Cathedral, seeing four Broadway shows -- The Blue Man Group, Phantom of the Opera, The Lion King and Mary Poppins, touring the 9/11 Memorial and stopping at Radio City Music Hall.
Student Abbey Pomeroy says her favorite part of the trip was going to see The Lion King. "Because it was really cool how they recreated the animals and costumes," she says. "The music was really catchy and the costumes are really innovative and unique."
Fellow choir member Gracie Weber says she was surprised at what she learned. "I learned how to sing in cathedrals and adjusting to the acoustics," says Weber. "During the Broadway shows I was really inspired by their abilities."
