The 33-year-old Brussels woman whose eight-month-old daughter died after being left in an overheated vehicle will be sentenced September 7.
Melissa Martinez pleaded no contest Monday to a felony charge of neglecting a child resulting in death. A charge of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle was dismissed as part of a plea agreement but will be considered at sentencing.
Martinez is accused of leaving Elena Martinez strapped in the car seat of a running SUV with the heat on for several hours October 19.
Authorities say Melissa Martinez had been drinking. The criminal complaint says four hours after the baby was found Martinez had a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit.
Martinez faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison and up to $100,000 in fines.
She's scheduled to be sentenced by Door County Judge Todd Ehlers September 7 at 10 a.m.
