Algoma, Kewaunee and Sturgeon Bay all spent well over the state average in net operating expenses per capita for cities in Wisconsin in 2012. Sturgeon Bay spent $896, Kewaunee $930 and Algoma $1039. The state average was $823 per person.
Of the three cities in Door and Kewaunee counties in 2012, Sturgeon Bay spent the most money per capita on police protection at $243 per person. Kewaunee spent the most on fire and ambulance services at $178 per person. Algoma tied with Sturgeon Bay for spending the least on street maintenance at $150 per person. Those are some of the results from research from the Wisconsin Taxpayer’s Alliance looking at municipal spending after Act 10. The report is called MunicipalFacts14.
The Village of Lake Delton spent the most per capita in the state at $4357, followed by the City of Wisconsin Dells at $2534.
