The now-closed Kewaunee Power Station is not for sale and the decommissioning process will continue. That’s the position of Dominion Resources, according to local affairs manager Mark Kanz.
Dominion purchased the facility in 2005, and put it up for sale in 2011. When there were no buyers, the decision was made to close the plant in 2013.
RGA Labs would like to buy the plant and get it back on line. Representatives of RGA were in the Town of Carlton last night for a public meeting to outline their plan.
RGA President and co-founder Robert Abboud believes that Dominion needs to consider what’s best for the community – and the people who paid for construction of the plant.
There is another hurdle even if Dominion decides to sell. The plant is not currently licensed for operation by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
