Three same-sex couples that applied for marriage licenses last week in Door County now find their wedding plans in legal limbo. Door County Clerk Jill Lau says they will not be issuing licenses until some further legal direction is handed down.
Lau says they are not refunding the marriage license application fee at this time, and will adjust the dates on the license when the time is right.
In Kewaunee County, two women were married on Friday. Kewaunee County Clerk Jamie Annoye said the couple paid the extra fee to have the time limit waived. The women were the only same-sex couple to apply for a marriage license in Kewaunee County.
