This week DoorCounty became the 22ndWisconsinCounty to be placed under quarantine for the invasive emerald ash borer. The tree-killing insect was found in one tree in the town of Gibraltar. Kari Hagenow of the Door County Invasive Species Team says while this means more vigilance is needed, it is not the end of ash trees in DoorCounty.
If you have ash trees you want to protect, a treatment is available through an arborist or tree service.
An informational meeting on the emerald ash borer will be held on Tuesday June 24th at 1:00 at Crossroads at Big Creek.
