Southern Door and Sturgeon Bay fire departments were called to rescue two people ice fishing near Sherwood Point late yesterday afternoon after the ice opened up on the entire shoreline, leaving them stuck on the ice. This is the third time in less than a week that ice fishermen have had to be rescued from ice in Door County that is rapidly deteriorating.
In a DoorCountyDailyNews.com poll, 63 percent of those responding think people rescued from ice should be billed for the service. Another 31 percent think billing should depend on the circumstances. Only 6 percent think rescues should be free.
