County Conserving Salt On State Roads Under DOT Directive

Less traveled state roads in Wisconsin are seeing less salt these days as the Department of Transportation has asked county highway departments to cut back on the use of salt to make sure there is sufficient supply for the rest of the winter.
Door County Highway Commissioner John Kolodziej says they have been following the new guidelines for the last two snowfalls.
County highway departments have two distinct salt supplies – one for state roads and one for county roads.
