A 91-year-old Sturgeon Bay man was injured yesterday morning when he lost control of his vehicle in a bank ATM lane and struck a building.
According to the accident report, Melvin Madel was at the drive-up ATM at the Associated Bank on 3rd Avenue in Sturgeon Bay at about 11:30 a.m.
A witness told police Madel rapidly accelerated, spun his tires on a patch of ice and drove into the building across from the ATM.
The airbag in Madel’s vehicle deployed. He was medically transported for treatment. Damage to his vehicle described as moderate.
