Egg Harbor Historical Society's celebration of 50 years as a Village

Saturday, August 23rd, the Egg Harbor Historical Society will be hosting a celebration of the Village of Egg Harbor's 50th anniversary in partnership with the Village's Arts Committee at Harbor View Park. The Historical Society Program will run from 11:00am-3:30pm and at  4:00pm the EGGstravaganza program will start setting up the sale of the 50 decorated eggs, food and beverage will be available.  The silent auction for 25 of the eggs actually runs from 12:00 noon-6:00pm.  The live auction of the remaining eggs starts at 6:00pm.

Historical Society programs will be running continuously starting at 11:00am with a guided tour of the Alpine Resort, if interested sign up for the free tour at the park before 11:00.  At 12:30, we will have a visit from Elizabeth Baird telling us of her pioneer life in Northeastern Wisconsin during the years of 1824-1874, highlighted by the day in April of 1825 when along with her husband lawyer Henry Baird they paddled their way into a unnamed harbor with a fleet of canoes headed to Mackinac Island to trade in the fur trappers winter harvest...the next day they left camp with a new name for the harbor, Egg Harbor...come hear her story at 12:30pm under the cover of the big tent.    (in real life, Elizabeth is Bev Smith from the heritage Players in the Green Bay/Depere area)

There will also be a guided tour at 2:00pm of St.Johns Catholic Church, built in 1910, and the 1871 Cupola House at 3:30pm...sign up for the guided tours in the park.  Self-guided tours of historic Egg Harbor will also be available.

Photo and video displays will be available under the big tent from 11:00am-3:30pm with brats, burgers, hotdogs, soda and water available for sale.  The EHHS's free Barnyard Olympic games for the little kids will keep them entertained.  Historical Society books will be available for purchase.

6th Annual S.H.O.W. 'BARN DANCE'
5:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Enjoy some ‘Good Old Fashioned Home Cookin’ including all you can eat pork, beef, chicken, beans, potatoes, booyaha & dessert, plus free selected beverages. Dance to the country sounds of the “Modern Day Drifters” on the large wooden dance floor inside the whitewashed horse barn. View breathtaking starlite skys on a clear night above Idelwild Farms. Food begins at 5pm, goes till 9:00 or when the food runs out. Music starts at 7pm. $15 for ages 13 &up, $7 ages 8-12, Free ages 7 and under. Adults age 21 & older may purchase Beer w/ valid ID. Carry-Inns prohibited. All proceeds go to the Luminere Scholarship program. Stock Horse of Wisconsin (S.H.O.W.) is a 501.c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the purpose of promoting ranch horsemanship throughout Wisconsin and surrounding states. F
