Christmas Program at The Depot PAC
1:00 AM - 1:00 AM
The Depot Performing Arts Center will celebrate its first Christmas program through the collaboration of Rogue Theater and Teatro Caravaggio, in the presentation of a Holiday Christmas Radio Double feature. The double bill will juxtapose two Christmas one acts – “Saint Nicholas and the Demon Tree” by local playwright Henry C. Timm. This charming one act was written under the influence of the Miracle Plays as performed by the Medieval Guilds, to present the stories of the Bible and the lives of the Saints to folks who could not read. “Saint Nicholas and the Demon Tree” was written for the Christmas Vespers in Fond du Lac and has been performed in churches and on stage in the Fox Valley, Door County and by invitation at Saint Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in New York City.
Both plays will feature performances by Marcel Bruyere, as The Demon and Rat, along with Skyler Champeau, as Saint Nicholas and Mole. Local children will play the intricate role as young animals and the lovely carolers. They will be directed by Henry C. Timm, Artistic Director of Teatro Caravaggio and produced in partnership with Rogue Theater stalwarts, Stuart Champeau and Lola DeVillers. The materials have been adapted for radio performance and audience members may expect an occasional moment of participation in the spirit of the season. This event is fully family friendly with a short break between plays. The performance should last about an hour and a quarter – just long enough to get the kids home by bedtime.
Proceeds from this event will benefit the Children’s Book Drive. For each ticket sold, Rogue Theater will donate a book to the Children’s Book Drive. Audience members are encouraged to bring a new or gently used book to help double the donations. The Children's Book Drive is collecting new and gently used books for kids up to high school age. Books will be distributed through the local food pantries.
