SPECIAL EVENT: GO Camp! Peninsula Lakeshore Group Site 10130 Shore Road. Enter via Shore Road near Lone Pine trailhead. Whether you’re an expert camper, a grandparent with camping memories, or never ever plan to sleep in a tent but love the camaraderie of campfires, JOIN US for any or all of the following activities:

– 4 PM. Help the naturalists set up camp. Learn what you need to pack for a successful camping adventure.
15 – 5:30 PM. Drop in Campfire Cooking Demo Tired of the same old camp food? Discover a few different techniques and sample new recipes. Participants are welcome to bring their own food to cook over the fire, too, or to pack a picnic dinner.
– 7 PM. Smokey Bear Fire Safety Crafts Nothing says camping more than Smokey Bear. Make a Smokey Bear hat, a camp bracelet, or a sit-upon. Shake paws with Smokey, too. Earn a Smokey Bear prize if you can pass his fire safety test.
– 8 PM. WI Explorer Family Free Play Did you pick up your free WI Explorer book yet? Go to Park Headquarters, the Nature Center, or your campground host. Join us at group camp to explore Peninsula by turning over rocks and getting down and dirty. Several free play stations will be set up to help children complete their WI Explorer books.
50 – 8 PM. WI Explorer Patch Ceremony Children who have completed WI Explorer book requirements will be awarded patches.
– 9 PM. Campfire! Bring a camp chair or blanket. Peninsula is home to many owls. Learn what an owl’s favorite treat is, where owls live, and hear a few owl calls. Share songs and skits. Afterwards, go Owling with the naturalist by trying to hoot up a few. Will Peninsula’s owls hoot back?
