The Belgian Detective - by Carol Lyons
It’s the Roaring ‘20’s and wealthy Chicago socialite Vera Riche, widow of Randolph N. Riche, the Wilmette Pork King, is throwing a party at her Door county vacation home. The festivities have barely gotten underway when Vera, and her secretary, Rod Furrent, find the body of gangster Willie “The Wiener” DeBlotto. Willie, who got his nickname after a shootout with a dachschund, has been bludgeoned to death, probably by someone attending the party. Vera decides the only person who can solve the crime and get her party back on track is “the famous Belgian detective.” She wants Hercule Poirot. She gets Petey Poirot, the great-nephew of the famous sleuth, who lives in the Door County community of Namur. The Belgian Detective revolves around Petey’s efforts to uncover the murderer.
