DESCRIPTION:Slow the Spread – Implementing Wisconsin’s Invasive Species Rule with Businesses
The Door County Invasive Species Team (DCIST) will be hosting a public meeting on August 20th, 2012 at 7pm in the John and Helen Collins Learning Center at Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay.  Chrystal Schreck, an Invasive Species Education and Outreach Specialist for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), will be presenting on Wisconsin’s Invasive Species Rule (Chapter NR 40).  This rule identifies and regulates invasive species with the goal of preventing or slowing their spread both within and into Wisconsin.  The Wisconsin DNR has been working with many partner groups and agencies to slow the spread of invasive species and the Chapter NR 40 has provided a consistent platform from which they are reaching out to agency staff, community groups, businesses and the public.  This is your chance to learn about the invasive species regulations, especially as they apply to businesses.  Whether you are a business or a community member, this session will give you the tools you need to comply with the regulations and slow the spread of invasive species in your region.  For more information please contact Kari Hagenow, DCIST Coordinator, at (920) 743-8695 or khagenow@tnc.org.
