Sturgeon Bay Man To Make Court Appearance On Drug Charges

The 39-year-old Sturgeon Bay man arrested in a recent drug bust will make his initial appearance in Door County Court Monday. Shawn Groleau faces felony charges of Manufacturing and Delivering THC and Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place, and a misdemeanor count of Possessing Drug Paraphernalia.

Highway Projects Nearing Completion

A pair of high-profile road projects in Door County are nearing completion. The DOT says both the Highway 42 project between Egg Harbor and Fish Creek and the Highway 57 job are essentially finished, although some punch list and clean-up work remains.

Sturgeon Bay Celebrates

Communities up and down the Door Peninsula are gearing up for their weekend Independence Day celebrations and the City of Sturgeon Bay is no exception. Saturday night's show will feature fireworks by Specialty Fireworks and music from the Peninsula Symphonic Band.

Two Arrested For Allegedly Brandishing Guns During Argument

Two men were arrested after allegedly brandishing guns during an argument Wednesday night on Sturgeon Bay's east side. It happened just after 9 pm at a boarding house in the 600 block of North 3rd Avenue. Police Chief Dan Trelka says both men had been drinking.

Boating Safety Course Starts Wednesday

The Door County Sail & Power Squadron is offering ABC-3, a boater’s safety course, beginning the evening of Wednesday, July 8 at the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Sturgeon Bay.  The six-session course, in which the first four sessions qualify as a DNR-prescribed boating safety course, provides the basic instruction needed to successfully complete the DNR exam required for a safety certificate issued by the DNR.

Leadership Door County Accepting Applications

Well, that class of nine has graduated, and Leadership Door County is now accepting applications for the 2009-2010 program.

Ray Of Sunshine

An area organization that provides programs and services for people with developmental disabilities counts heavily on Door County for funding, and the head of The Sunshine House in Sturgeon Bay is not sure yet if that support will be affected by the new state budget. Sunshine House CEO Jim Meyer says it's something they're keeping a close eye on.

Nine K's In Shutout For Josh Paul

Josh Paul pitched a nine strikeout shutout in Babe Ruth Baseball last night. Paul led Baylake over Jim Olson Motors 10-0 with stellar control of the strike zone and consistent speed on his fastball. Gus Jackson was the only batter to have any amount of success against him. Jackson finished with a triple and a single. Josh Lindeman sparked the visitors with a single and a double.

Also last night, Baylake North fell 7-4 to Baylake Sturgeon Bay.

Cubs' Slugger Crushes Brewers

The first meeting between the Cubs and Brewers this season at Wrigley Field was dominated by Chicago first baseman Derrek Lee. His second homerun of the night was a grand slam to deep left field setting a new career high with seven RBI's. Lee's performance lifted the "North Siders" to a 9-5 win.

FM Lions Topple Baileys Harbor

Colin Schubert and Hunter Mckinnon combined for seven hits for the FM Lions in Sturgeon Bay Babe Ruth Baseball but it wasn’t enough to bring Baileys Harbor down this week. Wednesday's Winning pitcher Chris Janesee led the way to a 13-5 win. Will Gonzales finished with two doubles and a triple to pace Baileys Harbor at the plate.
