In Tuesday night Packerland Conference action on 105.1 WSBW, the Peshtigo Bulldogs took advantage of several Gibraltar errors en route to a 5-1 loss in Game 1 of a doubleheader. The Vikings struck first when Brandon Stillman reached on a hit-by-pitch and scored in the third inning to give Gibraltar a 1-0 lead. The lead was short lived as in the bottom half of the third, Peshtigo scored twice, after a walk and two errors, to give the Bulldogs a lead that it would not lose. Gibraltar was not without opportunity as it had runners on 1st and 2nd base with one out in both the fourth and fifth innings but could not capitalize. Offensively, the Vikings were led by Spencer Krause and Alex Laughlin who each reached base safely twice, Krause having a single and reaching on a fielder’s choice and Laughlin walking twice. Laughlin took the loss on the mound, throwing six innings with six strikeouts. Laughlin didn’t have much help behind him, as the Vikings committed seven errors. With the win, Peshtigo was able to clinch a share of the Packerland Conference championship.
