By Bob Desotelle Sturgeon Bay varsity girls soccer improved to (2-0) in conference with a 2-1 win over Sevastopol/Gibraltar Thursday night. Scoring for Sturgeon Bay were Anna Fischer and Miranda Olson. Reetika Jandu scored the lone goal for S/G. Sturgeon Bay scored first at the 10th minute and S/G responded with a goal in the 28th minute. In the second half, Sturgeon Bay’s Anna Fischer sealed the win with a blast in the 64th minute. “We came out a little tentative in the first half and S/G had good energy. We missed a couple good chances on quick transitions and that allowed S/G to build some momentum. We had a good talk at halftime and the team responded with improved possession time and did a better job of controlling the middle of the field. Our communication improved as well as our passing. SB’s holding midfielders, Georgia Feldman and Ella Pinkert had outstanding performances tonight.” Sturgeon Bay travels to Kiel for a match next Monday.
