Harold F. “Butch” Ebert, 68, Algoma, passed away at home with his loving family at his bedside after a short illness. He was born Aug. 9, 1949 in Algoma to Harley and Mary Jane (Coppersmith) Ebert.
Harold graduated from the Algoma High School in 1967.
Harold married Janet Berkovitz on Oct. 25, 1969 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kewaunee.
He worked at Kewaunee Engineer and Fabrication for 48 years as a welder and then a truck driver. He also drove coach bus for Babler Bus Service for 20 years where he was happy to be a part of the Babler family. He was a member of the Local 487 Boilermaker’s Union and was a Union Stewart for many years. He was also a member of the Algoma Boat Club.
He enjoyed the precious time that he spent with his family camping and taking family trips, driving coach bus, motorcycling, deer hunting and fishing.
Harold is survived by his wife Janet, daughter Tammy (Dave) Tlachac, Luxemburg and son John (Paula) Ebert, Algoma; five grandchildren Jordan and Grace Tlachac, Cullen Bernetzke and Amelia and Brody Ebert; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Karen Barrette, Dennis (Dove Griese) Berkovitz, Jerry “Bearcat” (Linda) Berkovitz and Dale “Hokey” Berkovitz; nieces and nephews, his Godchildren Kelly VandenHouten and Cathy Berkovitz, and his special dog Skyler (his “baby girl”).
Family and friends may call at St. Mary Catholic Church,118 Church St., Algoma,Sat. April 14, 2018 from 9 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM with Father Peter Stryker officiating. Entombment at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
The family wants to give a special thank you to Unity Hospice for the wonderful care and support they provided.
