By Nick Freimuth The three Door County representatives for DCY Swim are off to a blazing fast start at the YMCA Nationals in Greensboro, North Carolina this week. Southern Door’s Brock Aune swam a personal best time in the 200 breaststroke. His time of 2:08.45 is good enough to put him at 37th place nationally. Stella Kersebet was up one second at 2:25.90 in the 200 breaststroke. Kersebet was 70th in the nation with that time.
Max McHugh broke a 200 breaststroke national record in prelims with a time of 1:54.23, and broke again in finals, 1:53.59. This is the third year in a row that Max has set new national record in the 200 breaststroke. The first time he broke the record he surpassed his older brother Conner, who just finished a wonderfully decorated career at the University of Minnesota. Max will swim under his brother next year as a Gopher freshman and older brother as a graduate assistant coach. The first place finish in the 200 breaststroke was his tenth national title.
Brock, Stella and Max have the day off today then Max will swim the 50 free tomorrow (Friday) and all three will swim the 100 breaststroke on Saturday.
