Sturgeon Bay senior Luke Brinkman signed his National Letter of Intent today declaring his intentions to run track at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. The newest member of the Blugolds has been asked to be a contributing member of short distance relay teams as well as short distance individual sprinting events.
Brinkman was a member of the 4×100 relay that finished sixth in the state last year. Coach Mike LeRoy has big expectations for that team again this year. He won the 200 dash in the season opening track meet in Oconto Falls Tuesday night. Brinkman also is a state qualifier in power lifting in each of the last two years.
The sprinter will run the 100 and 200 dashes and the 4×100 and 4×200 relays this season for the Clippers. Athletic Director Pat Blizel and Coach LeRoy said while he is a great student athlete, his personality and character set Brinkman apart.
