Gloria A. Johnson, 80, of Gills Rock, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2018. She was born Oct. 20, 1937, in Ellison Bay to Lawrence and Annette Wickman. After marrying Roger Johnson, Gloria made the big move north from Ellison Bay to Gills Rock, where she resided until recently.
Gloria attended Ellison Bay Grade School and graduated from Gibraltar High School.
During her life, Gloria worked at the Viking Restaurant, Johnson Builders, Uncle Tom’s Candies, Ellison Bay Post Office and Liberty Grove Polling Station. Her outgoing personality, attention to detail and work ethic were valued by all fortunate enough to have worked with her.
As an active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Ellison Bay, she enjoyed serving others in a variety of ways including Church Treasurer for 30 years, Sunday School Teacher for 30 years, Bible study host, bulletin production and meal preparation.
While Gloria was well known for her work and service to others, she will be fondly remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, along with a willingness to help anyone in need. She took an active interest in the well-being of everyone she cared for.
Gloria is survived by three children, Richard (Joyce), Randy, and Michael (Crystal); eight grandchildren, Matthew (Emily), Jeni (Jason), Mandy (Justin), Kristi, Annie, Melody, Abigail, Cate and Ellie Jubilee; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by Sisters; Joan (Bob), Nyla and brother Larry and brother-in-law Barky.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Pat Anderson, brother-in-law Robert Small and daughter Connie.
Services will be held on Friday, February 23rd at Bethel Baptist Church in Ellison Bay, with a celebration of her life at 1 P.M. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service, with a time of fellowship to follow. Burial will be at Ellison Bay Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
